1  Select the text

The old text is rebuilt from the surrounding pixels, then the new text is drawn on top.

Auto keeps the background inside the box and only rebuilds the glyphs. Use “whole box” if traces are left behind.

What this tool does — and what it can’t do

Input formatsJPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF. Anything else your browser cannot decode will be rejected with a message. Colour is preserved; transparency in PNG is kept.
Maximum file size20 MB per image. Larger files are refused before anything is processed. Images wider or taller than 4000 px are scaled down to 4000 px on the long edge, so the output may be smaller than the original.
Output formatsPNG (lossless, keeps transparency) or JPG (quality 92, smaller file). One image per download — this tool handles a single image at a time.
Processing timeBackground rebuild on a typical selection takes well under a second on a normal laptop. Automatic text detection downloads a recognition engine (~11 MB) the first time you click it, which takes a few seconds; after that it is cached by the browser and each run takes roughly 3–6 seconds, depending on how much detail the photo has.
When it will be inaccurate The rebuild copies the colours around your selection, so it works best on even or gently graded backgrounds (signs, menus, cards, screenshots, walls). Expect imperfect results when:
  • the background behind the text is strongly patterned or detailed — grain, foliage, fabric weave, brick, faces;
  • the text sits on a hard edge, a shadow, or a reflection;
  • the text is curved, at a steep angle, or follows a perspective (a photo taken from the side);
  • the text is very small, blurred, or low contrast against its background;
  • the replacement is much longer than the original, so it spills outside the box.
In those cases the removal may leave a soft patch, and the new text may not match the original typeface. Re-select just the leftover area with an empty “New text” to clean it up, or switch clean-up to “Fill the whole box”.
What it does not claimIt does not recover the original font file, and it does not rebuild a layered design. It changes visible pixels only. Font matching is manual: pick the family, size and colour that look right.
